An Overview of Starting a Blog for Profit

The first thing you need to consider before starting a blog for profit is which blogging platform to use.

I recommend using the Wordpress blogging platform over Blogger. Primarily - because Wordpress is constantly updated. It is freeware - and Programmers from all over the world design and develop new plugins (add-ons) on a regular ongoing basis - adding to its ever increasing functionality. There are also thousands of templates available to choose from. You will never be at a loss when choosing a great looking template for your site. In contrast Blogger just looks blah... I don't like the way it looks or its limited functionality.

As I said above Wordpress is freeware. However, you will need to purchase a domain name and hosting. I recommend Namesecure for domains and Hostgator for hosting.

Before choosing and purchasing a domain name you will need to decide on a profitable niche topic to build your blog around.

Once your blog is up and running you will need to start posting interesting content to it. When posting content to your blog (at least twice a week) you will need to weave in links to revenue generating programs in order to make money from your blog.

You will need to research each of the following sites to determine if their program will fit the theme of your site.

Finally, you will need to attract traffic to your site. Without traffic, you will not make money from your blog.
